This are some of the most beautiful plants in the world, especially Thailand is well known to be home of plenty of different plants growing in the the mountain jungle of the north and west.

Today no need to hunt in the jungle just visit a shop or a nursery they offer all kind of very attractive plants, either as cut flower or in the pot plus seedlings in the sterile flask to take home. Popular are blue, mainly vanda, cattleya in all kind of colors and other. Somehow this is not cheap stuff, they always go for about 8 - 15 US $. Cut flower are cheaper and also last for 2 - 3 weeks at home, lets say in Europe with proper care.

Also the islands of the Andaman Sea in southern Thailand have a population of this plants.

On the islands they usually grow either on mangroves or on the limestone rocks, on both places they are difficult to access. It is possible to see them but luckily they cant be taken, this is ideal against poachers.
