Krabi Transportation in general.

Your Krabi tour operator, Krabi travel agent or your hotel will handle this. Almost no taxis are around in Krabi, some private taxi sharks are at the main tourist area but be very careful they want to overcharge you.

You should keep in mind, for this Thai taxi guys a foreigner is like a lame turtle with lot of money and they try to pull it from you.

There are some "motocyc" taxi, this is Thaiglish for a small motorbike, around but very difficult to find.

If you arrive at Krabi Airport on your own you can take a minibus or taxi to almost any destination around, the prices out of the airport are fixed, don't make changes once you sit in the mini bus or car, since this will increase the price substantially.

If you already are booked with a Krabi hotel tell them to pick you up, but investigate prices first otherwise you might have a unpleasant surprise.

If you need this transportation never tell them you have no hotel booking, if you do so they will charge the hotel they bring you a high commission and this goes on for every day you stay in this hotel and don't believe anything what they tell, all is only focused to pull money from you, actually this is not only in Krabi, its everywhere in Thailand.

The minibus service is also offered between Krabi Airport and Koh Lanta island. If you go to Koh Lanta keep in mind that you have to use 2 ferries until you arrive at Koh Lanta where you accommodation is.

There is no Krabi Airport hotel, which wont matter anyway since in the vicinity are plenty of Krabi hotels and Krabi Beach resorts.

There are counters at the arrival hall for Krabi hotel and Krabi Beach Resort information, if you book a Krabi hotel or

Krabi Beach Resort at the Krabi Airport be aware that they take commission by asking you for a relatively high price and they get the commission every day you stay in a particular Krabi hotel and Krabi Beach Resort.

A way to work around is to book for one night only, check out from the Krabi Hotel the next day, negotiate a new and lower price and check in again.

Krabi Car Rental

Better done from your hotel -hotel charge commission which you pay- or in Krabi Town or you do it via booking from abroad through one of the international car rental companies, will be very expensive, or have a look into the internet and try to find a local Krabi Car rental.

A alternative is to rent a small motorbike for a while, just look in the vicinity of the Krabi hotel or Krabi beach resort you are, do it on your own, if you ask anyone he or she will claim commission at the place where you finally rent the bike, its a extremely material world around.
